Can you see.......the double dd

At least I think it is a dbl d......can't decide if it may be a dopped o possibly. once again.... sure could use everybody's help. what do you see ??????????

It looks like a RPM. I think you can still find those through 1989.

 

looks like a collapased gas bubble to me.

 

Is a gas bubble related to the plating?

 

I think it is just PMD. I might have gone with the gas bubble, but the bright scrape on the lower left surface of the mint mark curve, is in exact alignment with the mark inside the center of the D, and a gas bubble couldn't have made the mark.

regardless of what it is it would be hard to say for sure because of this darn copper plating. it is hard to find a copper plated coin that is perfectly smooth and no gas bubbles.

 

That is true. It is surprising what they look like once you get them under 10X+ magnification.

 

Well I don't think that it is a RPM. The size of the shape doesn't match the size and is shaped differently than the MM itself.

 

put both color and b/w...looks like gas bubble...
