How much of the date can you see in this coin? It is easier to see in hand. I got it for $31 with shipping. The seller said the top of the 179 is showing and most of the 5 but I just see top of the 9 and the 5. Perhaps a high resolution scan would be better. It is hard to photo these low ball coppers.

I can actually see the top of the 17 and more of the 9 in the light with my 10x loop, like the seller said.

I got bad eyes even on my high resolution monitor so I gotta go with Sgt Shultz....

I'm sure that it probably is somewhat easier in hand, as you said, but I can't see it on my monitor.

This new date enhancer works like a charm!

Funny when I tilted the coin to the light the date is obvious. Most of the 1, part of the 7, a good portion of the 9 and most of the 5 are present. Date is obvious in pain view but when you scan it, forget it. Maybe the right photo would show it better.

On the topic of seeing dates. Can you see the last digit of 7 on this cull flying eagle?
