Nice addition, Rick. I also have one of these. Same year 2017, but “reverse” side is rotated 180. Slab label simply said “eagle instead of value”.
Mine a little better price than Rick’s, since I purchased directly from a Russian seller, plus the TGP is different. Great price to get ahold of such error type. Yes, I’ve heard the stories of these 2015-2017 coins. Among the different combinations, I like the eagle/eagle most.
And this was a mint error or made intentionally for selling? I guess their mint machines had obv-rev dies the same diameter shaft end.
Hard to tell. A possibility just like the Malaysian errors in certain years. I read a post saying that the Moscow Mint director was fired in 2017 (related?). Also, you can see a few other NGC-certified “combinations” in a recent Mint Error News article. make people wonder.
That's what I have known about us coins was the chambers were different sizes. I wonder what kind of presses Russia uses?
