    1261-1282 Michael VIII Palaeologus 22 S.jpg

    Could it be this?:

I wished that David Sear in his “Byzantine Coins and Their Value” could have provided some more text in order to determine it more accurate. He only says that on the obverse it is an archangel and on the reverse it is Michael holding sceptre and akakia. But he does not mention what letters are on the coin! It is impossible to me to identify it alone.

Can anyone here read the letters and identify this coin?

Yes this is Sear 2283 (=2239) of Michael VIII.
The obverse shows St Michael standing - you can see X/M above left.
    The reverse legend is XMDECPOT-PALEOLOG

    Ross G.
