I have a copper coin that is very badly worn. The only detail on the coin that can help me determine its origin it its edge. Attached is a picture if the edge. Does anyone have any ideas.
Howdy TobbyT - Welcome to the Forum !! I'll sure give ya credit - that's one heck of a pic of the edge Afraid I can't help identify it by that though - it's too badly worn. But often someone who is used to looking at certain coins can see things others don't. Can you post a pic of both sides of the coin - but not quite so large By all means - use a good sized pic - but try to keep the entire image visible on the screen without scrolling. And if you can measure or approximate the diameter and weight of the coin - that will help too
Toby, first let me say welcome to the forum. And now that is out of the way, let me say - Hmmm. You have provided a very high quality picture of the rim of a coin with the main portion of the coin having been blurred in Photoshop. Was this intentional - a challenge maybe? Or just blurred to ensure it did not distract maybe.
TobbyT,it looks like a Czarist Russian copper coin -possibly a 5 Kopecks of Czar Nicholas I (ruled 1825-55). Aidan.
