Can someone tell what this is on this 1952s cent

    It appears to be a rather large die chip.

    In the 50's, die chips were fairly common. I've kept all the ones I can see with the naked eye, however they really aren't worth anything. Just a fun little error. Good find!

    It has a little over two cents worth of copper but as far as collector value not much. As Dave said above, die chips were common for 1950s Lincoln Cents, especially on the obverse and especially around (and in) letters and numerals.
