My son got this coin through a trade, but he does not know anything about it. Maybe someone could help him out. Thanks for any help, God bless,Keith & Hunter
Its a cast copy of an ancient greek coin. The softness in the coin is from the act of copying. I am not sure when they were made but I have a lot of them from a group I bought that was supposedly put away in the early 80's so they have been around for a while.
As I recall you got one of these (or was it two?) glued to a card offering to sell you a Readers' Digest book on Greece. They were sent to millions of American homes but coins still attached to their cards are scarce. I believe they come in gray pot metal and yellow gilt washed pot metal. This is probably the most often seen fake ancient coin and is far from being deceptive even if the word copy has been removed.
