Is it or isn't it ? Dunno, but I sure wouldn't risk it.

well, ok so I will sit here and not collect lol. Honestly, there must be ways of telling if this nickel is authentic from ICCS registry somehow?

I'm sure there is but I don't know what that is. My point was that the seller being where he is, that's enough reason for me to walk away - all by itself.

You should only buy coins from people you know and trust. If you don't know and trust them, then don't even bother looking.

And buying coins from people you don't know and trust is like having sex with people you don't know and trust - with no condom.

Now you wanna call that opportunity, OK. But I sure wouldn't advise it ;)

They only problem with this advice is that when you are first starting out you don't know, and therefor can't trust, anyone. So it follows that you shouldn't buy any coins from anyone. And if you aren't buying you can't get to know and trust anyone. This leads to very tiny collections and a lot of frustration.

Sometime you just have to take a leap of faith and buy from people you don't know.

You have a problem with sellers of Canadian coins from Vancouver?

As for the coin in question, the pictures are not good enough to tell, but so far I have never heard of fake ICCS holders so that would probably have allowed me enough trust to have bought it. Personal opinion.

Or, go to someplace like this forum and ask for recommendations. Or, pick a seller that you think may be OK, make a few small purchases from them and see how it goes, and work your way slowly into establishing trust.

You know as well as I do Michael that's how you should do it.

Not at all, the link I looked said the location was mainland China. That is what I was referring to.

But me personally, I don't know that coin so I can't judge it. Nor do I know that seller (the ebay seller in Canada), so I wouldn't buy it either.

When I'm wondering about an eBay seller, I'll go and look at his feedback, particularly at his buyer's feedback. If he's a great purchaser from ___ Imports in China, then that will tell you. I looked at this one, and a lot of his buys are from other places in Canada--not proof, but looks better than some I've seen.

You must be talking about the second link. Everything from that site is fakes coming from China. The first link to the ebay auction in question was to a seller in Vancouver BC.

Having purchased several so-called "Genuine" coming from China I would say: "If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is" mine turned out to be FAKES...my motto now...if it comes from China, Dont buy it!!!...Cheers
