My son's friend found this laying on the ground in Chicago. He really wants to know what it is. I posted here because the designs looked to be based on ancient designs. Its the size of a quarter, feels like its made of brass, or a light brass colored metal...

It is indeed a reproduction of Vespasian: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vespasian.

These brass reproductions (which is what the "R" on the back stands for) were popular during the 1960s but it may have been made before or after that time.

Same here on the R - I had it in my hand even...didn't have a loupe though...my eyes aren't really good with out magnification...at least that's my story and I'm stickin' to it!

Thanks everyone for the help, Gabe was pretty happy to know what he had found. It's his *lucky coin* now...gotta love kids.
