I'd guess either a half penny from England, or a one cent coin from a pre-Confederation Canadian maritime province like Nova Scotia or New Brunswick.

Well, it's definitely a "Young Head" Victoria. The size would be very helpful in trying to limit the possible choices.

30mm. OK so you've joined the rest of the world with metrics, huh? Lets see at 25.4 mm to the inch your saying it is about a little over an inch in diameter. I wonder if it would fit into a Coke Machine. What is it made of? How much does it weigh? Is it attracted by a magnet? Try shooting at it with a .22. If the bullet goes through it may be Silver or Gold.

At about 30 mm - could be a penny, could be a half-penny. If you can weigh it - we can answer and pin down the date range as well. They changed the sizes of the dang things ya see :goof:
