can anyone tell me if these are MD or DDR OR whatever you guys think it might be . It's a 2010 yellowatone quarter take a look at the 2010 and the E PLURBEBUS UNUM. Thanks for your time
The pictures are pretty blurry but from what I see they look like flat and shelf-like to me. My vote is for MD.
from what i see when looking at the coins the areas that you guys say that are flat but when looking at them from the side there the same height as the main letters
Looking at the 'N' and the 'M' in UNUM for example, the bases appear to extend, but with decreasing height. If they were the same height, they would appear the same photographically as the main body of the letter. This 'smear' effect, going from the height of the main letter to the bottom level ( field) is an indication of MD. It is very hard to confirm a true doubled die from blurry or badly lighted photos, but since true doubling is much rarer than MD, a photo needs to show it perfectly to be identified.
Interesting avitar pic. As for the image I can see what you are saying but cannot make a determination based on the images, need clearer images.
Folks! The lettering on these coins is incused. As such, flat and shelflike descriptors don't really apply. Matter of fact, the entire concept of machine doubling takes on new meaning when describing doubled dies with incused lettering. For example, consider the machine doubling on my ex-5 oz Yellowstone below: Not flat, not shelf like, serif splits, and due to it being incused lettering, definitely machine doubling. I cannot explain it other than it's not a doubled die.
