Can anybody help me out with this 1982 Denver penny, if you look at the two, it looks like something has happened to it, can’t tell if it was struck again because if you look at the ear it looks like it took 3 hits, and I think I see doubling in liberty/ear/date truth be told I haven’t looked to much at the back due to what I have found so far lol I would love others input that are wiser than I in this subject matter!!! Thanks for reading almost weighs 3.09 grams
Okay the first two brown coin photos that’s 1982 D penny with an over mint mark or an rom I believe that’s brown I didn’t mean to upload though I was gonna do a post about that coin because it has some issues I’d like to learn about
Everything you see on your Cent is Post Mint Damage. The ear is worn. Not a mint error of any kind. BTW.. There is no such thing as a triple nor double struck ear. You are probably thinking of Doubled Die ear which is a variety. But those do NOT occur because they were double struck or struck twice. The issue was created during the hubbing process of the Die when the image of the ear was doubled. Hence Doubled Die ear. Here are the known varieties..
That's not happening. You could edit your own thread! Take out the pictures you don't want. It does not matter because nothing is an error.
OMG that makes since see, i guess i havent learned the difference between double struck and DOuble DIe
Double struck is when a coin is struck 2 times. Doubled Die is a die that has a doubled image caused by doubling during the Hubing process of the Die. But the blank planchet is only struck one time. Go to Doubleddie.com which is a great website that explains it all in detail. Wexler's Coins and Die Varieties (doubleddie.com) Please take time to educate yourself first before looking for errors and varieties. Instead of making stuff up. By the way.. The correct numismatic terminology is actually Doubled Die, not double die. Big difference. See, all this information I just gave you is all FREE! Happy Holidays!
