So I appeased my 1916 Lincoln obsession in the form of an early Christmas present to myself (what a great way to justify spending money). I apologize for the pictures. My limited skill in coin photography really shows with this one, but that can add to the challenge, maybe. It is much more lusterous in hand and there is no weakness anywhere, eventhough the left wheat ear looks weak in the pic, it is not. Answer revealed tomorrow night. P.S. I think from my wonderful pics that it looks like there is a hit on Lincoln's cheek below the eye, but it isnt. It is just one of the many streaks.
Yeah, PCGS does not like these Woodie Lincoln's. That's why I said, I like it as a MS-66BN. I can easily see PCGS marking it down two grades because of "Low eye appeal".
Really hard to see the strike/grade with all that's going on with the surface. Interesting coin. Best guess MS-65BN
I really like this coin, but man does it suck to take a picture of. I kinda disagree with the grade, but like @jtlee321 said, I dont think PCGS likes woodys. A couple of you got it
I think I'll bump it to WG-67, I can see the luster I thought it had in the slab pic. That's a beauty, TPG grading on woodies SUCK!!
I like that. There should be a woody grading scale. It is a monster, it's just so difficult to get a good picture of it. I also only paid just under the pcgs price for it which I thought was a good deal since I think it is undergraded.
