I got this quarter along with several others that look like this in a mint roll of California quarters. They have this strange looking indent on top of the hat and what looks like indents/damage cause by a key. I don't understand what could have caused this if it is damage by a key and being in a mint roll. The quarters also have two indents on the eastern edge of the mountain. Any help.

Looks like another quarter fell on this one hard and the reeding left a mark....just because its from a mint roll doesn't mean they will be MS70....they are just like the coins you get from the bank but more $$$ to get.

Looks like the reeded edge of another quarter hit the reverse of your quarter.

Teh hat thing is a known error, so is the 'Rising Sun' over the other side of the hill, I have a few of them so I can assure you they are common :p

Thanks again. With the indent above the hat and at the mountain being known errors I guess I'll hang on to them a while. The other marks did look to be some type of damage after minting.
