My 9 year-old son found this today and pointed it out to me. I thought that I remember hearing of this error a while back. Does anyone recognize this specific error?
Filled die, struck-through greese...All I know is that someone out there owes me an "NIA". Maybe it fell into the ocean
What's Cali For? Seriously though, cool find. Strike thru/filled die errors are not that rare and don't carry much of a premium, if any, but its still a cool error find.
I used to think that these types of errors didn't carry much value either until I saw them go for hundreds on ebay. I'd bet my last peso that some collector/investor, out in California probably, would bid this item up if it showed up on ebay one day. But, that is neither here nor there since I don't sell coins anyway.
Well I hate to quote myself but, I did put it on ebay. First thing that I have ever sold on ebay. Lets see if anyone bids on it. It's an interesting test.
Going, Going, Goooone! Alright lawdogct, I have proven my point. I managed to sell the quarter on ebay for $15.00. I said that the guy would probably be from California, but he turned out to be from completely the other side of the country. I'm not saying I ripped this guy off, the coin has value other than the .25 cents to someone, somewhere and it sold. My first attempt at ebay and a fun test too.
Thanks! He thought so too! Now if I could just figure out how to get the money out of paypal???? Another day.
