Byzantine Shepherd ?

    Hi.The obverse of this Byzantine coin shows a man with kinda stick. He's looking down left to some unidentified creatures, possibly sheep or just out of my imagination. The reverse has a big K with a lot of stars. It weighs 2.56 g. Could you please assist me to better identify this coin. Thanks .. Charles Bizor.jpg KByzanR.jpg

    i suspect it is a half follis of constans ii 7C.

    Yes, Contans II was pretty famous for standing figure types. A half follis from him is scarcer though than earlier emperors.

    I already posted a Byzantine coin yesterday, and it happened to represent Emperor Constans II as well. In the scale of Roman rarity, the ERIC List determines Constans II as the utmost rarest Roman Emperor. In fact the early Byzantine Emperors such as Anastasius and Constans II were still considered as Roman, at least by ERIC. what is your opinion, please ? Thank you.. Charles

    Unfortunately, I was mistaken. I confused between the Byzantine Emperor and the Roman usurper. Thanks a lot for this correction.
