Hello. I would like to know what this coin is worth and where would be a good place to sell it. I was quite surprised to find out it was over 1100 years old. It is in good condition for sure, but at some stage someone decided to put a small ring through the top of it. The ring is only 1mm thick and a few mm in diameter. I am sure it is genuine, as it has been inherited through my family. The coin is SB1704 on this page:

Any advice much appreciated and I can't post a pic because I don't own a webcam or digital camera. Thank you.

Edit - One other thing, the people on the reverse of the coin are upside down compared to the person on the front of the coin. Is this normal?

You really should post a picture. Otherwise no one can tell you anything reliable. Also try borrowing a camera.

I will try and arrange something, but there are no guarantees unfortunately. I would certainly appreciate any speculation about value, especially around the issue of how much depreciation could have been caused by the addition of the ring. It can't do any harm. :)
