I registered to the site today to check on the disturbing listing I saw on Ebay and I did not find any thread on my observation so I wanted to sound the alarm.

As I was searching $50 buffalo 1 oz proof to bid, I found someone selling the box, COA and capsule WITHOUT THE COIN!

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/2010-W-50-1-OZ-PROOF-GOLD-BUFFALO-MINT-BOX-COA-CAPSULE-NO-COINS-/370548756005?_trksid=p3984.m263&_trkparms=algo%3DSIC%26its%3DI%252BP%26itu%3DUCI%252BIA%252BUA%252BFICS%252BUFI%252BDDSIC%26otn%3D5%26pmod%3D320795342673%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D4400199620057092841#ht_878wt_954

    I
wondered why would someone buy just the capsule and COA, then a bell went off in my head. What if someone bought the capsule, complete with COA --then turn around and put counterfeit coin (which are sold on Ebay for around $10) and sell as genuine US Mint set, complete with COA -- instant 60X - 70X profit!

US Mint casing and COA are worthless on Ebay. Buy directly from the Mint, or from reputable dealer and never on Ebay!

    Goldrush,
That happens with all coin issues it is nice way for dealers to make some $$ when they get a coin slabbed (don't need coa) . Yes people buy then to put counterfeit or real coins, hence you should never take a coin that comes in mint case and via as proof of authenticity. Always do your due diligence!!!

Yep. I realized importance of due diligence from the listing and never relying on the COA or the packaging.
