I was thinking about going to the bank down the street and asking to get a few rolls of the Washinghton and Adams dollar coins, trouble is that I dont have an account at that bank. Its a US Bank, do you think they will let me do it or do banks say no unless you have an account ? I have heard of some banks saying no unless you have an account there, so does anyone try this and does it work or do you just go to the bank where you have your account to get rolls. thanks
Every bank is different. Some banks carry them and hand them out as you ask, some will only hand out small amounts, some don't carry them, and some will not give you any unless you have an account. Go around and ask, all they can say is no.
I regularly get rolls from a bank that I don't have an account with here in Canada. They've been extrememly nice and have gone above and beyond for me. It never hurts to ask.
all the banks i deal with, i had to open an account at. all the banks i visited in my area would only deal with me if i had an account. So i only opened accounts at banks that were convienient and now do business anytime i need to.
I went to washington mutual since I was going that way and they said NO because I dont have an account. My account is at B O A so I guess I will just keep going there but she is starting to worry about me getting all these coins.
Try different branch offices. Here in Pitt. I go to a few different PNC branches (I have no account with them) and it's never an issue.
My opinion......... It is kind of out of order to go to a bank where you do not have an account with. A bank is not Kmart, Walmart, Kohls, or Target where you buy things. To do bussiness with a bank, including getting rolls of this or that, you must have an account with that bank. They serve account holders, not the general public. You cannot walk into any bank that you do not have an account with, and expect them to cash in your rolls of pennies, much less expect them to waste their and my time in line to give you rolls of this or that presidential, or other mint crap that the armored car companies mostly have. This includes currency as well. The banks (and I think banks suck) are not a playground for your "get a roll" pleasure if you do not have an account.........
I do business at banks where I don't have an account all the time. I live in a small city...there are only three banks and I have an account at just one of them. Everyone at the other banks are friendly though and will count my coins and let me buy rolls.
I say the same thing to my wife over and over again... she doesn't see it that way, and still insists I'm "buying" all sorts of coins from the bank.
By that reasoning if you are a customer they should give you rolls with no problem (and we all know that does not happen).
I go to any bank and ask for rolls of coins. The last bank told me they didn't have any rolls of half dollars, so I told them that I'd be back to close my accounts. (I don't have any there.) They were a bit taken aback when I told them that I had my home mortgage with them and I thought they weren't telling me the truth. Anyway, that got them thinking about better serving the coin collecting community. I usually ask them, when they tell me they don't have those coins here to go and look in the vault. Hey, what can you lose? It's better than driving all around town asking for coins that these banks DO have on hand. Be persistant and nice and they'll look in ther back for you. Bruce
Ha, got that right. I got $200 worth of half dollars today at a bank I never had an account at. Found two 1968D 40% silver
Oh Balogna. Numerous banks could care less if you have an account with them. I go to different banks all the time in three different states to get rolls. I do not have an account at any of them.
I had one bank that consistently went to for rolls of half dollars, yet I didn't have an account there. I eventually moved my accounts there due to their good customer service (the good rates and account terms helped too). Then, they started having an attitude about getting half dollars for me. Really weird twist. Fortunately, all the other branches have been good about it, so I have mixed feelings about the first branches attitude.
