I have been on the hunt for rarer quarter mint dates and mint locations as well as collectable US coins like the silver and gold Eagles. I have 2 1928 Ds Standing Liberties (KM-145) and a 1914 Barber Quarter (no designator below eagle tail so I cannot provide a KM) of which I know are both common. I have a few gold and silver bars (mostly Perth Mint, Holy Land Mint/Jerusalem gold, Johnson Matthey), 1901 10 Swedish Kroner (KM-767), 1941 D 50 Reichspfennig (KM-96), 1939-E 50 Reichspfennig (KM-96), 1936 J 5 Reichsmark (KM-94), 1979 P Susan B Anthony Dollar (KM-207), 2014 2014 P Australia 1 Troy Oz .999 Silver Kookaburra, and a 1972 Eisenhower Silver Dollar (KM-203). I am interested in US coins at the moment. Any ideas or advice? I know EBay can be sketchy so finding reportable dealers on there is key.

MCH, what exactly are you looking for? Is there something specific you're shooting for or just want some general advice/dealer tips?

I would go to local coin show in your area. ask dealers if they have a return policy. ask if they have discounts if you buy many coins from them. focus your search on which coins you are looking for and what the lowest and highest price you are willing to pay.

KM's? Krause assigns numbers to US coins? How esoteric........

I am looking for US coins like quarters from around 1910 till 1940. There are some dealers in the area I know so I can keep looking there. I'll have to keep an eye out for coin shows. I know the 1880 O quarter is heavily counterfeited and sought after too. Any general advice/dealer tips would be appreciated too.

I know the 2000s and forward silver Eagles aren't as coveted as say rarer older coins.

You are aware that in non-US catalogues US coins are in the 'world coins' section? ;-)

When looking for a reputable dealer, I always point people to PNG. The PNG website has a "find a PNG dealer" thing that will show you PNG dealers in your area by zip code. It's a good place to start!

I've heard that APMEX and Modern Coin Mart (MCM http://www.moderncoinmart.com) are good places to look too. A few of the dealers in my area are PNG or NGC verified (San Diego, CA.)
