I just thought I would post this to let everyone know that I am having problems with Allman Coins (http://www.allmancoins.com/). I ordered a book almost 3 weeks ago and my credit card was charged immediately (a practice I don't like). I tried to call them using the telephone number on the web site - it has been disconnected with no new number. I sent Matthew Allman an email a week ago and no response. I have since complained to PayPal but I don't really expect any results. I have only been dealing with on-line coins shops for about 6 months now and haven't had any bad experiences with the well known stores, i.e Brent-Kruger, etc. I guess it is buyer beware and just because someone has a neat web store doesn't mean it isn't having problems. So from now on I am double-checking everything. I will call the business first to make sure all is well and if they tell me they are going to charge my credit card before they ship the item I am going to find a different store. I have other hobbies and they don't charge till they ship, I don't see what's so special about coins.
Is that an error on your ANA number? Seems like very high number. Allman's lists their ANA number. You might want to get the ANA involved if you really believe you're being cheated. If it's just the delivery time that's bothering you, perhaps not.
Art, Most major credit cards have a 60 day grace period on purchases. Just contact your CC CO. & dispute the charges. I's your money not they'rs. Dave
I agree with shutting off the funds through the credit card immediately. If Exiled wants to pursue it further, he should consider the ANA path. Still interested in the ANA number question.
Art: That is the correct ANA #, I got it for Christmas 2004. Knowtracks: The length of time is correct for my credit card however, they don't cover under $50 (the book with shipping was $32). I also found this person's (Matthew Allman) with another web site using the same contact information. Site 1: www.allmancoins.com Site 2: www.uscoinsupply.com Site 2 does have a different email address but the phone numbers are the same and have been dis-connected. It looks awful suspicious that all phones are disconnected, all Ebay sales have been removed and no emails are getting answered. I did contact PayPal and they are "researching' it.
I think it's good you got PayPal involved. IMO you should also get eBay after him, just pull up their site map & go to Fraud Protection. the more pressure the better. It's guys (both buyers & sellers) like him that give eBay a bad name. GOOD LUCK, Dave
