I like buying old Canadian silver at the pawn shop, but it has a drawback...high premiums. The last few Canadian half dimes I bought cost me $3 each. The melt value on them is 67 cents.

So this time I tried something different.

    I ordered $1.00 face of 925 Canadian (pre 1920) and $1.00 face of 80% (1921 to 1967).

    Before shipping, I paid $33.68.

This is 1.294 oz of pure silver. At $21.47 an ounce, I paid $6 over spot before shipping.

I'm not sure what quality this "junk silver" will be, but I will post photos once it arrives.

Is your goal to get silver bullion as cloe to spot as possible?

Well for ASE and 90%, yes. However for world silver, I'm just trying to keep premiums low while still enjoying a collectible coin. I don't like paying $3 for a Canadian half dime that melts for less than 80 cents.
