I have some extra money right now and want to know invest in a somewhat large amount of silver. I called a gold and silver exchange place in my area, they said they would sell me Brittanias, Austrian philharmonics, or Chinese pandas for $21 each if I buy 50. This is the amount I was wanting to get anyway, which ones do you guys think are the best to buy? I know they are all the same 1 ounce of silver, but do any of them have more appeal than others in general?
In order of best to worst: Brittanias, Philharmonics, and then Pandas. Try looking for better deals at flea markets or on ebay though, the bullion market is very big. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
A monster box of American Silver Eagles is best in my opinion. Edit: I just re- read you want 50. Actually, I read this whole thing wrong. I'm crawling back to my hole now.
In my non-expert opinion, the Pandas seem to rise higher in price over time than the other types listed. Do some research on prices of each and prices of older dates on each one. In the end, silver is silver, so you'll at least have market value no matter what you choose. Actually, can you choose a little of each? Or just 50 of one kind? I'd say diversify if you can.
I would buy ASEs as their resale is probably better. Some states don't charge capital gains tax if you sell them (no idea about OK). They are the best bet in the USA. Check out the price from some of the more popular sellers. APMEX is right there in your own state and may charge sales tax (no idea), but Gainsville and Provident often provide better prices anyway. There are others.
Yes I second Provident, ASE, Maples, Panda's, They have a sale under whats popular every week this week its 2014 ASE's I think. And they are very close to you.
Why not post this question on the Bullion Investing forum? What I love about CT is that they have done a great job at separating our various hobby inclinations so that like-minded individuals can better congregate.
