http://search.ebay.com/167-A-Wooden...sspagenameZADMEQ3aBQ3aSSQ3aUSQ3a21QQversionZ2 I guess this is one way the eBay dealers buy coins. How many other ways do they buy????????
Looks like a great way to suck you in for a rip off to me. Ok, you get one PCGS or NGC Morgan at MS64. Then a bunch of other crap that he bought REAL cheap. Other slabs will most likely be "self slabbers" or "fly by night" slabbers. Ooooh, a proof set which is most likely common as hell. ....and now! "Every Lot will be fourteen (14) plus coin MINIMUM with the ABOVE COINS" Look at the wording there. Betting the mint or proof set is a nice chunk of those 14 coins. No wonder his wife hates him. Just another angle to scam IMHO. clembo
Many, many ways. Some dealers I know constantly find entire collections at estate sales. Coin shops that go out of buisness. What surprized me was a coin dealer I know told me they go to a bank, buy bags, rolls, etc of coins. They take the really nice ones and put them in a 2x2. They now write MSxx on the 2x2 and sell them like you wouldn't believe. All such cents are $1, Nickels are even more. At one coin show they had the busiest table. They too sell on ebay. Just think if you buy a coin from them, you pay for the 2x2, get a coin you could have found from the bank and then you pay for postage also.
If they are all graded by a third party, then it takes only minutes to list them all. No need to scan, people will bid based on the reputation of the TPG. What a scam.
