I am looking for information on the Dutchess. I tried searching google and Wikipedia, but have not found anything. All i seem to find are other folks showing images of the note i am researching. Maybe i am not looking in the right place! If anyone knows who she is, and what she did for the country of Bulgaria, if you could please point me in the right direction, i would appreaciate it :)

The note in question is P-100, and can be found here . Pardon the mess on the page as i try to update the details and descriptions of each listed note :)

    Thanks for any help!!!

I can later translate this into Cyrillic for you if you want to do a search that way, I am guessing that perhaps the way the name is transliterated might be a problem with the searches.

    Okay, try this:

I find in Bulgarian a poem she wrote, but is rather not appropriate now. But she must have been a poetess during her time.

The only info that I came up with is that there is also a 1 lev note of the duchess printed in 1974.

I do know that much, and i do know about the Boyana church. I am tryingto find more info on the dutchess The link you provided wont open for me, it loads a blank page, and says 'done'. I wil try with another pc a little later.

From what you read chrisild, does the link give more info on who the dutchess is, and what she did to be honored on the banknote?

Thanks everyone for all the help so far :)

Admittedly I had no idea who Desislava is/was. :) The Boyana church I had heard about (not in detail though) as it is a World Cultural Heritage site and also because it was depicted on a 2 lev coin a couple of years ago. The bank note catalog may be interesting for you by itself but, as you will have noticed, does not provide much info about her, except that she was a donor and is a patron of the church ...

Yeah, i knew form the wiki page on the church that she was a patron of it. But thats all i know. Some say she wrote a poem, but can find nothing indicating such on the net. I figured since she was important enough to have her image on the note (and apparently coins too) that finding info about here would be somewhat easy ... well, that has turned out to not be the case.

i 'try' to give a small snipet of info about the person when i post a note that features the persons vingette on my site. Looks like i may just have to leave it as her being a 'parton and a donor of the church'. not much, but its all i got.

    thanks!!!!
