Just got a shipment of 189 mixed dates Buffalo Nickels from a seller. Paid just under $0.30 per nickel. I can't wait to sort through them and see what's there. Probably mostly 30's but we'll see. Also, I am getting a shipment of about 420+ Buffalo Nickels soon that I paid just under $0.25 per coin. The guy found the box of coins in a heating vent when he bought a house. Should be fun to look through and see what's there. I'll post the details once I sort the coins.
Good luck! But the cynic in me suspects (from your description) nothing more than two fair deals on common 1930's nickels.
Now that's my kind of hunting Tabor. Who knows what might show up. It's a real today treasure hunt. Good luck. Hope you find something neat. Dave
Awesome! I need to find people like that! Searching through a lot of coins is so much fun! Let me know when your ready to sell some so I can fill up my book some more!
Wow...what a great selection of coins...mostly 30's but it was a great deal so worth it. As promised, there were 189 coins and most had full or partial dates on them. Here is the breakdown: 7 Dateless (including a 1913 Variety I from looking at the back) 1 x 1928 Acid-Treated 1 x 1917 1 x 1918 5 x 1920 1 x 1924 4 x 1926 5 x 1927 36 x 1928 2 x 1928 D 9 x 1928 S 2 x 1929 1 x 1929 D 2 x 1930 2 x 1934 44 x 1935 1 x 1935 D 36 x 1936 1 x 1936 D 17 x 1937 1 x 1937 D 10 x 1938 D What do you guys think? Decent deal? Most of the coins were AG-G but there were 12-15 coins that would be VG-XF. I'll try to get pictures up soon. Any of them in particular that you want to see?
Got word from my other seller that the 400+ buffalo nickels are on their way. I should get them on Saturday or Monday. Can't wait to see what it entails.
I just received my 2nd shipment of Buffalo Nickels (415 total!). Purchased them for $0.25 apiece. Quite a mixture of dates including LOTS of dateless. Here's the breakdown: Dateless Buffs: 141xDateless (No Mint Mark or Undetermined) 12xD-Mint Marks 5xS-Mint Marks 4x1913 (No Mint Mark) Type I 3x1913 D Type I 1x1913 S Type I 5 Acid Treated Partial or Full Dated Buffs: 1x1915 3x1916 2x1917 1x1917 S!!! 5x1918 6x1919 13x1920 11x1923 4x1924 1x1924 D 5x1925 24x1926 18x1927 10x1928 25x1929 9x1930 6x1934 23x1935 39x1936 3x1936 D 1x1936 S 34x1937 Questions? Another thing to keep in mind that there are a number of varieties in the Buff series. Two feathers, RPMs, Doubled Dies, missing designer initials, etc. Buy yourself a good loupe and it's something that might be worth the hunt, stretch out the anticipation further.
Heck...at $0.25 each for the second batch, I think you did pretty good. Agreed...the 17-S and the 24-D, if VG or better, should make it worthwhile.
Yes, I already have started filling a book but I have many gaps that I am still looking for. Now the problem is that I have nearly 600 Buffalos to sell. I have posted them already in the For Sale section.
