While attempting to run this 100 dollar note through a machine I found that the note was rejected several times...I took the time yesterday to examine it and found that someone had stamped it with a image of a Poodle...Nice, but now, I think the image has caused it to be rejected and will have be returned to the bank or a retailer before it can be spent...Have any of you members ever encountered something like this?? Thanks
Well Steve you may not believe this........ but Bud and I had to look that one up. You are correct CHOP MARK.. and there are hundreds of examples of them on line, though I was unable to find any that resembled the one I have, but there were several fine examples...Thank you...learned something to day and so did Bud...
A poodle is a new one as I haven't seen or heard of that one. Stamping bills has become fairly common since the web site Where's George became popular. The stamp should not keep the bill from operating properly in a machine.
Thanks Nut...there maybe other issues with the note...no big deal I will find a way to cash it in...I am sure that I received it at the bank when I cashed a check..Maybe I can pass it at the Casino Monday, they handle 100 dollar notes by the hundreds....
Yes, I have had the "Where's George" rejected many times. I also did something similar on all bills for awhile back in the 80's. I stamped each with a rubber stamp and large, with "Postage Rates Are Too High". I don't remember any bill changers back then so I guess there probably was little problem with that. It was better than doing it on my packages just to have them purposely destroyed by USPS. It was my 80's way of 60's protesting.
I had to read this a few times to get what it was you were communicating Tom. I now understand that as a form of protest you were stamping notes with large rubber stamps..good for you, I will look for some, though they may already have been taken out of circulation...
I still have the stamp, maybe it's time to start again with rates going up Jan. 1st. I also have a stamp with a large eagle, similar to the one on the Kennedy half. And if I really wanted to confuse people I have the Chinese alphabet in a set. Not that I know how to use it, but it does come with a cheat sheet.
Would you want to spend all that time stamping notes or would you rather read posts in Coin Talk?? The choice is easy for me...
Tommy, if you thought they were too high then I don't want to know what you're doing now. Postage rates are too high for today's standards, especially with the service you receive. lol
I can see my future already. I use the Chinese characters, try to pass the notes at the local X-Mart convenience store and wind up in jail. Uh Oh! I hear someone knocking on the door...black suits, sunglasses...M.I.B.
What kind of machine are you attempting to insert the note into? The stamps on the bill are quite small, aren't covering any security features, and are otherwise negligible. If you are able, I would attempt to lower the sensitivity level on the machine because it is being ridiculously picky (if it is in fact rejecting the note because of the stamps/chop marks).
No control over the machines NOS, they are Casino machines and several rejected it, some of the machines in this Casino are real sensitive...I was just intending to hand it over to one of the cashiers and have her break it Monday, when I meet with a retired Captain I worked with, we meet for lunch on Mondays and play for a few hours.. but I have decided to put it in my collection due to it being the first I have ever found... I think it is neat so it is out of circulation.... Thanks NOS.
I would be the one who would have pulled that stunt Collector...Bud is too smart for that...he leaves the goofy stunts up to me....
Bud is my best friend and dog...he is with me as often as he can possibly be, he is heart broken when I have to leave him at home when I go to places he can not go. When I return he is so excited it takes a few minutes for him to settle down and stop running through the house....as you may expect I love him dearly. When my Black Lab Jessie passed due to Deer tick infection my wife told me that the dog groomer had a dog she wanted to give away because her daughter no longer wanted him...my wife added that I may not want him...I said if it is a dog I want him...Next day she brought him home and it was love at first sight...His name had been BUBBA and I changed it to Bud..This guy loves everyone he meets to include cats and probably Ducks... You maybe able to tell that I love dogs, and have since I was a child, when I was working I would always be the first one through the door on drug raids to protect any dogs that were in the building, because the SWAT team would shoot any dog that approached them during entry...I am proud to say that NO DOGS were killed on any of the entries that I ever made, though just after I retired two dogs were killed on a entry...broke my heart....But thanks for asking Steve I appreciate it.. This is Bud and his neighbor friend Black Jack.
