I really need to get a redbook but Id rather buy coins! I swear this addiction is gonna be the end of me, anyways was wondering how much these merc dimes go for?
Both are the common ones; however, I see a lot of good detail in both, especially FBs. The pics are a bit fuzzy and what I see from them, my guess on grade would be a strong 65, possibly 66 as the luster is not showing in the pics but I will give the benefit of the doubt it's there. Numismedia.com price for the 42 in 65 grade FB is $48, and the 44 in 65 FB is $69. Redbook is a great guide for information on coins, but their price guide is about 20% higher than FMV.
Yeah they dont have any scratches at all, and thats pretty amazing considering i got one for 8 bucks and the other for 10!
Barrowed my sisters camera and took a pic behind some red phelt, I really need to get one of these, what grade do you think it is now?
FB means full bands on mercury dimes. The bands are on the reverse of the coin, they are the bands of rope at the top, middle and bottom. I agree they are not FB because the middle band does not have seperation of the "rope".
Camreno, While your bands are defined, they're not fully split. Here's a solid example of FB to compare against.
Thanks very much for that pic, the bands are soo hard to see, you really need a magnify glass to see it, which i dont have
From these photos, the bands in the middle are not fully separated. No FBs. I also see a lot of contact marks in this photo, which I didn't see in the original pics you posted, which drops the grade to AU. If by some chance a TPG says MS, it would be no higher than 60, not really worth submitting as I stated, 44 and 42 are the more common strikes.
