    As discussed before, the Brutus EID MAR coin was up for auction:

    The coin sold for $546,250 on September 7, 2011 at the 2011 September Long Beach Signature World & Ancient Coins Auction #3015

    There were four bidders

    Any other details known?

    Dunno about the details but dang thats alot. Still whoever got it is lucky. Hopefully it went to a collector who will appreciate it and not some investor for a portfolio.

    They need to find a hoard of 184,000 of them so us regular folk can get one :p

    I believe there are 54 known, (that number simply comes to mind). Not rare for an ancient, but of course the subject matter makes it one of the singularly most important ancients in existence. I would pay that kind of money for this coin over an Octodrachm.
