Went to the bank to get my 1821 Secundo Crown out of my deposit box as I was
sending some high-end stuff for grading. I noticed that brown spots had
either appeared or got worse since I bought it 2 year ago. I keep it in an
inert flip, dry with constant temperature. OK, two questions, what is it
and how dire is it for my expensive coin?

No other signs of brown spots anywhare else on the coin apart from
those shown in the photo....thanks, Marbury518

Photobucket link in how it is now.

It appears to be organic material on the coin. Yes, the spots will continue to get worse if you leave it alone. Your only course is to remove them yourself - acetone might work, or send the coin to NCS - which is what I would do.

I have already completed the invoice to send this coin and one other to NGC...can I kill two birds with one stone, or will my coin have to go backwards and forwards across the pond a few times? Thanks for letting me know what it is D......marbury518

Just told by NCS that NGC will just send it down the hall for me before grading to see if they can do something with it..........how simple and straightforward was that!
