I have a coin from around 350 BC - ish (Alexander the Great) that unfortunately has bronze disease. About five years ago, I learned on this forum that soaking it in olive oil would help slow the decay. Does anyone have any idea how long I should leave it in the oil? It's been five years!
You do not want to use olive oil, you will need to kill the bronze disease itself. Dave Welsh's instructions here seem to match the method I've used before to kill it: http://www.classicalcoins.com/bronze_disease.html
