Hello all! I wasnt able to identify the ruler on this coin and the reverse didnt help me either, because I am not sure what it depicts. Coin is 23mm in diameter and 9.10grams in weight. Your help appreciated. Thanks
You are correct, naturally. I looked at some Hadrian coins Hadrian before I posted, but couldnt find resembence. Now I see his portraits vary significantly. Any idea on the reverse? I browsed ww base but nothing rings a bell
I'm afraid I haven't a clue on the reverse. I don't even know if this is an Imperial or a Provincial, but someone more knowledgeable might have an idea.
My first thought was Hadrian, too, but it could be Antoninus Pius. It's an as denomination based upon the size and the laureate bust. Imperial issue because of the SC flanking the figure on the reverse.
Now that you told me where and what to look for, I see it too. Do you maybe know what is mai theme on the reverse? Thanks
It could be any number of a dozen deities depicted standing holding various objects. There isn't enough detail to tell.
