Haven't had time to get a shot of it yet. When it was purchased it was in a flip (apparently since not long after minting). The coin is perfect except for color. The flip was labeled 1969 S Lt Cameo Proof, "w/o coating". I wasn't aware of any coatong on these. The color is the same as a Sacagawea. Any insight on this one? Thanks... DC..

Until we see photos, there's not much anyone can tell you.

There was no coating applied at the mint to the proofs as far as I know.

Is it possible that the "coating" refers to the removed mint film? That is the only thing I could think it might mean. Of course if it was in an older PVC flexible flip ( most common in 70s), maybe the coating was a PVC film that was removed, leaving a different color? all just supposition.

I have received many 60's Lincoln cents with bright coloring, even recently. Just this week I got a 64-D and a 69-d that looked like they were minted last week. I keep swapping out coins from my books with these circulation pulls due to the brightness and coloring. While not quite golden, they are pretty close...
