    Good morning everyone,
So here is our chance to own an authentic 1943 Bronze Cent!..
How much do you think it will sell for?

Quote - "The Bronze 1943 Lincoln cent is perhaps the most famous Mint Error to ever emerge from the United States Mint. Just about 20 distinct examples are known from the Philadelphia Mint and they are highly prized at all grade levels. When the U.S. mints switched to zinc-coated steel planchets in 1943, it is supposed that a small number of bronze planchets from 1942 were somehow caught up in the folds of the delivery carts. These blank planchets worked their way loose and were fed through the presses along with the new steel cent planchets, creating this famous rarity." Closed quote

It is pretty hard to guess the value without the grade.

    Edit: AU details- obverse cleaned.

My thinking is in line with @Pickin and Grinin. Certainly this will sell in the six figure range. I am thinking the upper range will be 200-250k.

So, how much did the "cleaning" affect the current value?

Some people frown upon Details grade. Others like me don't care much for minor issues as such. If I had the money I would get it!

Such as @Heavymetal just stated :wacky:

Ok.. I have about $50.00 in metal detected coins to start off with :hungry:

(Not including my silver finds.. I'm keeping those!)

My detected coins? All of them! If not then the Coinstar machine will stop functioning when I dump them :yack:. Coinstar has a laser sensor that becomes dirty which causes it to stop. So clean coins is a must..

My silver coins.. All cleaned and shiny thanks to Arm & Hammer baking soda! (I know some people are cringing with my cleaning tactics) :depressed::inpain:

ooooh . Maybe better than Nail Polish . Only use 100% acetone with distilled water is what has been recommended . I'll have to give a whirl on my Crusty King George coppers ( detected ones ) .

Paddy, are these type of ultra-rare errors scrutinized like our old coins are? If I had a lovely Morgan that was detailed like this cent was, I would expect the value to be cut in half. A coin this rare wouldn't be scrutinized quite that heavily, would it?

being as rare as it is cleaning will probably have little effect on the price.
