I came across these two coins at a garage sale, and on a hunch they could be silver, I bought them.

However, I'm trying to compile information about them. I have gone through several sources, and have hit some conflicting information.

According to the World Coin Gallery, these were real money with something like .5677 oz of silver. However, I have come across other sites that indicate them to be Franklin Mint coins from their "Treasures of the Caribbean" collection.

I cannot find an official mint source indicating these were struck for the British Virgin Islands, and no information from the Franklin Mint about them either :(

I even contact the Franklin Mint about them, and was told they don't keep any of those types of records, and suggested I just look on ebay or other coin websites. (What malarkey!)

Does anyone have any idea how I can get definitive information about the coins? Ideally, I'd like to sell them, even if just for the silver content. But, in order to do that, I'd like to know what it is that I have.

Please check out the pic. The coins were not cared for, and have lost much of their shine. They were not purchased in any sort of case, nor is there a COA.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanx

The Franklin Mint does produce official coinage for some of the island countries, and I have a few of them myself in their original boxes. Assuming that both of your coins are proofs, both weigh 19.09 gms and contain .5678 oz of .925 sterling silver. The one featuring a likeness of a 1702 gold doubloon is KM #52 and the one with the anchor is KM #53. I don't have any pricing info for the proof issues.

Non Circulating Legal Tender(NCLT) struck by the Franklin Mint for the British Virgin Islands.
.5677ASW, mintage unlisted. Catalog value $15, but they usually trade near melt.
