I have 5 of these coins and am trying to find out about the mint mark and mint location and the value of the coins. Thank you.

My (outdated) 2003 Standard Catalog of World Coins says $110 in UNC.

1925 mintage is 4,406,000 in .9170 gold. Actual Gold Weight is 0.2354 oz.

At current price of gold bullion value is $116.68778.

I own one of these. It's a nice inexpensive gold coin. The dealer told me that he can buy truckloads of them in low-uncirculated condition so I guess they aren't very rare. Personally, I'd rather own these than quarter ounce gold eagles, which is the closest bullion coin I can think of to them.

Just so you know, the mintmark is usually right at the base of the horses right hoof, centered above the dates.

It is possible to find coins minted in Australia, India, Canada, South Africa as well as Britain.

It should also be noted that sovereigns are perhaps the most counterfeited gold coin in existence. There are quite literally millions of them in existence. The British govt. themselves, unknowingly so, even distributed counterfeit examples as part of the survival kits to British soldiers during WW II.

Sovereigns should never be purchased unless you are very familiar with the series and you can weigh and examine the coin, in person, before purchasing them. Just a word to the wise.
