A while back I posted a picture of my 1994 Royal Mint Trial mono-metallic £2 coin. I have been trying for ages to get more info from the Royal Mint about how many were made, and finally today I got an answer. Sadly not the mintage figures, but a very interesting document on the process of trialling new coins. I attach both the original coin picture, and the document.

Anyone else out there with interesting Trial coins to post?

Here are some euro trial coins from Churriana, a suburb of Málaga in southern Spain. In late September/early October 1998 they did a test there, to learn how people would cope with the changeover, the conversion rate, etc.

These pieces were produced by the Spanish Royal Mint (FNMT-RCM) in Madrid. If the images do not show above, have a look at this Spanish page http://www.angelfire.com/ga/garnata/Churriana.html which, at the bottom, also has the specifications and mintage figures.
