Hi, I was going through my world coins, and I found that I have a british penny from every year from 1826-1961 except for 1853-1856, are any of these coins particularly valuable? Everything is clear and readable on all the coins. Thanks.
I think they are great lookin coins!, I have 3 myself, and also dont know squat on them?I wounder what are the "Hot" years?
Head for your local public library and check them out in the Standard Catalog of World Coins, or - if you are lucky - a more specific catalog of British coins that might be hidden in the stacks. Also, read up a little on grading, as "clear and readable" could describe anything from a VG to the fabled MS70!
The 1860 copper 1d. is very rare.There is a very rare date in bronze 1d.'s - the 1933,of which there are only 7 or 8 pieces known.The 1950 & 1951 1d.'s are also scarce coins,as is the 1953. Aidan.
