I have seen people post US patterns of coins here, but never thought to own one. However these showed up on e-bay and I just couldn't resist. I doubt I will collect any more of them, these satisfy me just fine. Anyone else have any?
Does this count? It has some wear, so I assume some of these circulated as tokens. I wonder what the mintages were... UK 1 penny model token c. 1844
I have carried these two pictures from a coin reference book around for years to help me with the GB Model coinage - I hope they help. As I understand it they were created by Moore in the 1840s when there were discussions about redesigning the smaller coinage. When this did not go ahead they continued to be produced for curios and as toy money. They are distinct from the toy money produced in the late 19th century by Lauer and others, purely for that purpose. As you can see the smallest coins - 1/16th and 1/32nd of a farthing - were minute. At one stage I did have these tiniest coins, but I sold them many years ago.
