I have just acquired this from a retired Police property man in the UK. I don't usually do error coins, but I thought it was interesting, and I thought I would get your thoughts and comments before I sell it - probably on Ebay.

It is a British 50p coin dated 1982 that has ended up double struck and oversize. It was handed in to the police as a possible forgery, and ended up being sent back to the Royal Mint for their comments. Their response is attached as well.

Well I thought it was interesting!

Yes - I liked that touch! I guess if had not been the police that sent it in, they would have just done that.

The letter and coin together make a very nice collectable. Are you going the keep it?

No - I will sell it on. I have never got into error coins much - in my eyes they are just imperfect. Letter will go with it though, would be a shame to separate them. If you are interested in it, feel free to PM me.
