I have been reading some posts lately, i I have see that if you bring in a roll of old coins that you dont want, the bank exchanges that roll at gives you another roll of old coins. Is this True?
It is true at my banks. I just make sure to mark my rolls, so I don't get them back again at a later date. Some people will get rolls from one bank, and return them to another for the same reason. David
Ok. So you can just exchange your coins in a roll you dont want and they will just give you another Roll? Would they give you old coins in that new roll?
Banks don't like when you give them back the rolls you just purchased from them. My bank asked me what i was going to do with all these halves and i said i would search them, she said you better not bring them back to us. and i said i would never do that to you. I suggest that you get your rolls from bank A and then cash them in at bank B. It's a lot smoother that way and you don't get your same coins back. Another note, you wont always get old rolls, i just got $10 in dimes the other day and they were all 2007-D.
Oh Ok. So it varies. So you just go up to the counter and ask, can I exchange my roll of coins for another? MAn thats easy then!
well, you can do that, but what they are trying to say is walk up to a bank teller and ask for whatever you want. so if you want $50 in dimes, give them $50 and ask that in dimes. i don't think they would like to exchange rolls like that.
So in my case I would ask for say, 50 cents in Pennies. I would exchange a roll of 50 i don't need and recieve a new roll. I get it now!
Make friends with a teller. They are much more willing to accommodate you if they know you and know that you try not to make too much work for them. I usually return my rolls to a branch where I don't know the tellers.
they don't really ask when your buying coins, unless you are buying alot. when you go to dump the rejects, they might ask you. banks around here don't ask.
Depends on the bank and the teller. I only have an account with one of the banks that I deal with. I do have my mortgage with the other, but I was dealing with them long before I got my mortgage.
