brand new to this, can't decide if these are errors or wear and tear?

I have always kept a large flower pot of coins, which i occasionally go through and put the coins in rolls when it fills up. Yesterday, I was rolling up some quarters and nickels and came across these two coins that looks sort of like errors, but I'm not sure if they're mistakes or just damaged from being used.
The nickel has like part of the bottom melted off, which I know cannot probably be melted in a "home" setting (like if the coin was placed in the dryer, etc).
The quarter has a weird stripe thing going on over the image, but I'm not sure if those are scratches or just because it's a dirty coin.

    Nickel post mint damage.

I think so too. And the quarter looks to be dirty or has some cool "wood grain" to it
