Br. N. Borneo coins - caught my eye.

For my first thread here I thought I would share these coins of British North Borneo. (From looking through older posts I saw that Ian collects also them.)

These coins are outside of my usual collecting focuses. But sometimes certain coins just catch your eye. They are so interesting and attractive that I couldn't pass them up. Even if you know nothing about them, Southeast Asia immediately comes to mind when looking at the 1 Cent.

They are both in great condition, and the Half Cent especially so.

The coins are darker in hand than in the seller's pictures. They are medium brown but they still have that subtle attractive mottled pink, lavender and blue toning.

The H stands for the Heaton mint in Birmingham.

I think the designs make them appear more like medals than coins.

Thanks for the friendly responses guys!

BTW, in case anyone is wondering about the sizes:

    - the Half Cent is 23mm

    - the 1 Cent is 30mm

    And they are bronze.
