1981 $1 G-A Production with BP#7273 .jpg I just acquired this note and in the process of trying to get it graded. Its a production run (run#49) G 61721658 A $1 FRN Fine 10-12? Plate Pos. H1 BP#7273. Its low grade(fine)
yet the only Production run & COPE overprinted BP#7273 that has surfaced. All the collector sheets the back plate was used on (all E-D, E-E, E-F) were only offered in 32-sheet format
thus overprinting was done on the older presses (Non-COPE). I not sure sure what I would expect to ask for the note? I could use any marketing suggestions anyone has to offer.

Very interesting find. I have never encountered this before.

You're going to need to find an advanced error collector or dealer for something like this. Unfortunately, I've found that errors like these that are not eye catching don't command as high of a premium as one would expect.

I think educating potential eBay buyers with a write-up explaining the error and the uniqueness is one avenue. The other would be to seek out an error dealer. They might have the knowledge to recognize the value in this note. You could offer it up for sale on various collector forums. And one last option is to contact an auction house like Heritage. Their auction writers provide great write-ups that educate buyers. They can also provide you with an estimate.

It's hard to speculate on value, but surely do not do a no-reserve, low-start auction. If this was offered to me, I wouldn't pay over $100, simply because the condition is such a detractor.

Considering that, I don't think it's worth getting graded. The fees would just eat up your profits.

But don't let that stop you. Let us know how it turns out!
