Hi folks. Got a call from Steve at Bowers and Morena today. Seems that I filled out this little questionnaire for them back in December and today they just wanted to touch base with me and thank me for filling out the questionnaire and, oh yeah, do you want to put some of your collection up for auction? I explained to Steve that I have the most humblest of colections...I've seen what these guys auction off and brother I ain't no high end...no where near it. Yet Steve was persistent. Yes we do auctions in the $300-$1000 dollar range. Numismatics you know is a good investment at this time and yeah, now is the time to put your meager holdings up for sale. I politely declined informing Steve that I was quite the "pure collector" and had absolutely no interest in selling any of my "holdings". I prefer to think of this hobby as, well, a hobby. I'm not selling any of my "holdings". At that point we both parted ways assuring each other that we would keep in touch (not). What's the deal here? These guys lookin' for new territory?
Learn a lesson here. If you don't want to be contacted don't fill out a questionaire, enter a "contest", etc. B&M is a reputable firm. They are just trying to round up a little business. I would guess business is slow for them (like it is for most people).
My thoughts exactly Bruce.....but humble little me? These guys must be desperate if they're beatin' the bushes with me.
I get called maybe every 3-4 months by a place in TX. Once they tried to sell be a DOUBLE roll of quarters...40 coins total! For some odd reason though they think I collect gold, and must have about $20k to be able to spend....I can't find a reason to tell them different either. Next time they call and say that they have 5 complete sets of $20 gold pieces I think I will tell them that I'll take it!...and to send them all to me on a monthly payment plan of maybe $5/month! Speedy
