It's raw. If it looks gradeable in hand, I'll send it in. Paid $115, about $15 more than I hoped to. Seller pics that I edited together.

If so then I'll be lucky to break even when I sell. But it happens.

The color is a little questionable, but not out of the realm of possibility.
    I'll say MS-63BN.

I'm going off the rub on the shield lines on the lack of or flatness of luster in the fields at 3-5 and around 7-8 and 12

I don't see any wear/rub. The areas you mention and the leaves look like a weak strike to me - typical of the series and date. I think it's a 63 or 64 BN due to a luster and color bump.

I also don't like the color. The wood grain surfaces make it too hard to grade from these images IMO. I would probably not have bought based on these pictures.

I'm just here to see how much the grade opinions change once you get the coin in hand and take your own photos. :bag:

Really? Purple is a pretty common color on these, along with blue. Plus it doesn't seem as extensive as others I've seen in straight holders. I think @BigTee44 had a gorgeous blue and purple MS64 last year.

Impossible to accurately grade guess from those pictures! I wish you luck and hope it is really nice in hand... but I'll wait to see your pics.

Any time I see blue and purple on copper, I instantly think MS-70 and get nervous. I see the hints on the reverse, which is probably why you went for this piece, but I'll reserve judgement until we see better pics.

That, the luster, and the woodgrain led me to believe this was an original, problem-free MS coin. But we'll see.

It's not the purple specifically. I have seen many gorgeous purple, green, and blue coppers. I nearly bought a cool, raw, blue IHC at the lad show I attended. It's more of the overall pattern, but that may be the wood grain throwing me off. I'm terrible at grading woodies, and I generally don't like them all that much.

Yeah, I like wood grain tones. PCGS seems to grade these more on luster and color than NGC, in my experience.

I don't think 63BN is out of the question, if they grade it instead of body bagging it for the wood grain but the grain is somewhat localized so I think they'll put a number to it. Tuff to be sure of grade with these pics though

Tough to grade with these images, I'm in the ms camp too . This is on a bronze planchet, if I remember correctly ...

Tough call grading from these images so I'll wait to see yours when you get it in hand. I do like the die crack through AMERICA though.

Purple and blue. Beautiful coin. Only one that I sent to @C-B-D that didn't CAC.

Second two cent coin I've had in hand that was blue. The other was a 1864 MS64 RB
