In a recent trip to the east coast I had the opportunity to stop by the Boston Museum of Fine Arts for an hour. I can't stress enough how amazing their ancient artifacts exhibits were-I think I saw more ancient egyptian/greek/roman artifacts in that one hour than all other museum visits combined. In addition to the multiple coffins, mumified remains, and carved statues there was a nice long display of 50+ pristine ancient greek coins of all denominations. If you are in the area I recommend stopping by.
They used to have an Ipad app with nearly all the coins at the museum in the app. Not sure if it's still available, was pretty big in size. Thanks for sharing the pics.
Dang! I got there at 4pm so I only had an hour to visit. If I ever go back I'll have to check that out
It is amazing. I've posted photos elsewhere (but on Forvm, maybe). The second floor also has the majority of the Roman art collection as well as many additional Greek vases, statues, and Egyptian antiquities, plus some interesting conservation work-shops you can peak into. Every time I go I plan to tour other parts of the museum but I rarely make it our of the ancient section. Fortunately, I'm close-by.
