I just scored a book of Amazon, related to the Ancient Coins of Southeast Asia. I was wondering if anyone else has used this text? i would love to hear your opinion of it. I look forward to digesting this book. ISBN-13: 978-0877277101ISBN-10: 0877277109 Edition: 1st The book written in '92 is out of date and their have been discoveries since then, although I am not sure what they are. I suppose I will have to splurge with a newer text. Flipping through the book, it seems rather easy to understand and has many monocolor maps. Some of the rarer coins seem to be represented as illustrations along side plates embedded in the text. It almost reads like a story book. It is quite uplifting to find ones obscure coin in a book.
Wicks does mention this coin as Class D. The coins were Preserved by the Padaung Tribes people who considered this the most ancient art of their forefathers.
Nice looking numismatic tome! Makes for great bedtime reading. I'm currently poring over Bowersock's Roman Arabia. Two paragraphs knocks me right out, but it's the sort of thing where you really have to ponder each sentence. Looks like your text might be just as thick.
I own it AN. I was going to recommend it the other day to you when we were discussing this topic. Its been a while since I went through it.
