Does anyone know the best book for information on coins not a price guide. I really want a book that has every topic on coins. Like confronting dealers selling at auctions you get the point.
Answer I'm not sure what it's called anymore. I forgot. I read some of it. Dreamer94 has a copy. If you ask him, you can get an answer to your question.
I like Photograde a lot. It contains more than grading information. There are probably better books for what you are searching for.
How about a book that has this in it ? Deciding what to collect Storing your collection correctly Finding out about repaired, restored, and recolored coins Pricing world coins Finding a good coin dealer Buying at auction Understanding that condition equals value Exploring the wild side with rare, expensive, and esoteric coins Selling your coins Is that what you have in mind ?
ballaboy5425, I received "The Coin Collector's Survival Manual" by Scott A. Travers for Christmas. Here is the amazon summery: In The Coin Collector’s Survival Manual you’ll learn how to: • Understand coin grading systems • Detect altered, counterfeit, and doctored coins • Know when to buy and sell—and when not to • Buy coins through Internet auctions—and avoid the pitfalls • Safeguard and protect your coins from disaster BOOK OF THE YEAR WINNER—NUMISMATIC LITERARY GUILD I have just started reading it so I cannot really tell you much more than it seems to be a good general book that's not just about value and mint numbers. Good Luck Darryl
