I bought this based on a photograph and thought it might be a board break error. In hand it is definitely a note that has been abraded. In hand the "missing ink" area is whiter than the rest of the note. Under a magnifying glass you can see the "ridge" between the original note and the abraded area. I don't know if this was done on purpose of just some damage. Only paid a few bucks for it so I am not disappointed. Took a chance and ended up with a note I can use for educational purposes.
I consider it a “Paper Pull” It’s what happens when the adhesive on a piece of tape pulls the top layer of paper away as you’re removing it.
Thanks for clarifying the cause of this non-error. There is also a bit missing on the signature. that must have been a wide piece of tape.
